with host artist Miriam Schulman
I’ve noticed something fascinating after years of coaching artists. Some artists can raise their prices overnight, while others struggle with fear, doubt, and second-guessing every step of the way. The surprising truth is that pricing your art has very little to do with formulas and everything to do with how you see yourself. If saying your prices out loud makes you uncomfortable, there’s a deeper reason behind it. Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on the hidden psychology of pricing and sharing practical ways to build the confidence to charge what your work is truly worth.
“When you set a price, there are two people that you have to sell it to. The first one is you.” — Miriam Schulman

Sorry Miriam I should always double check. Talk to text before I hit send this is Cheryl Brands again once again I loved your series today on pricing and fully intended to do some more research into your group and the possibility of joining up. I was trying to say that I am a type a person in my career but an introvert when it comes to putting myself out there.
Miriam, I felt like you were talking directly to me. I have been drawing my whole life but working at perfecting my art for the last five years I started out in graphite, then took courses in color pencil and after a while I realized I wasn’t doing the courses. I was doing more my own stuff than then the instructor stuff so I figured it was time to let that go and continue working on my own stuff in colored pencil then I discovered charcoal and I’m absolutely loving charcoal, but I equally love colored pencils so I do both. I am kind of introverted, even though I’m a Taipei person in my career when I get to my Art you’re right it’s about me. It’s about me not feeling good enough. It’s about me not feeling good that my Arts good enough even though everyone who sees in gushes about how beautiful it is. My daughter is my number one fan and is always singing my praises and sometimes to the point where I feel that it may not be real, even though she says it is. She has now convinced me to start doing some art shows so I’m doing a rather big one in June and I’m a nervous wreck and I’m still not quite sure where to put my prices. I have been doing 8 x 10 custom portraits of pets at $125 which I know is way too low for the number of hours that I put into it. I have done some larger charcoal, which I have had matted framed professionally and know that I’ve got to raise my prices on those in order to make anything so I’m going to try the steps you talk today in your podcast and I’m gonna look further into your group because I am definitely interested. Thank you again for today. I enjoyed the podcast greatly and again it was like you were talking straight to me. Thank you, Miriam.
