406: How to Sell Art Without Social Media

with host artist Miriam Schulman

You do not need social media to build a thriving art business, even if it feels like that is the only path available right now. I see so many artists putting in consistent effort online and still feeling stuck, wondering why it is not leading to real sales. The truth is, there is a more sustainable way to grow that does not rely on algorithms or constant posting. When you shift your focus toward pricing, relationships, and direct connection, you begin to build a business that actually supports your life as an artist. This is where things start to feel simpler, clearer, and far more aligned with how collectors really buy.

“You don’t need more followers. You need a system, a strategy, and the courage to do it differently.” – Miriam Schulman

In this podcast, you will…

  • Explore how pricing and positioning impact your ability to sell consistently
  • Create a strategy that supports sustainable growth without burnout
  • Understand what actually works today to build a profitable art business

“Social media chases attention, but email builds relationships and relationships are what sells art.” – Miriam Schulman

🎨Cheryl Shanahan’s work captures the quiet power of nature. The stillness of open water, the presence of wildlife, and the fleeting light that transforms an ordinary scene into something unforgettable. From lakeside reflections to expansive skies and intimate animal portraits, her paintings invite viewers into a world where life feels both grounded and expansive.

🎨Bret Neathery’s work explores the emotional power of abstract painting. Through bold shapes, layered symbols, and instinctive use of color, his pieces invite viewers to feel rather than analyze. Inspired by a transformative encounter with Jackson Pollock’s work, his art centers on creating meaningful, immersive experiences that encourage pause, reflection, and personal connection.

  1. Thank you for confirming my feelings toward social media. I got off the hampster wheel of feeding the algorithm. I now post not for engagement but as a place people I meet in person can go to find me. I treat it like my digital portfolio. I focus more on in person events and collecting emails.
